Responsive online banking web applications

At BB&T (Branch Banking & Trust, now Truist) my primary responsibility was to build new features into the existing BB&T responsive online banking web applications. On a daily basis I worked as a web designer and front-end developer. I took care of an old codebase and began working in a more modern codebase during my time there. I was the lead designer on many projects such as:

  • The responsive online banking web application that was launched shortly after I began at BB&T in 2014; as we made modifications based on user feedback and added features post-launch, I managed the work of 1-2 other designers.

  • Integrating a third party service into our newer responsive online banking web app called U, by BB&T. The service allowed customers to manage their non-BB&T bills through the online banking app. I managed the work of up to 5 other designers (see eBill details below).

  • Integrating another third party service into U that allowed person-to-person transfers via email and mobile phone. I was the only in-house designer for this, and also acted as liaison for an outside firm that helped with the project.

During my time at BB&T I collaborated with other web designers, content strategists, UX designers, product managers, project managers, back-end developers, and Quality Assurance specialists. Everything I did was part of a team effort, and my designs were always consistent with existing BB&T styles and assets. This was my first experience working with a large cross-functional team. I’m thankful for my excellent co-workers, and learned that greater products often come out of such teamwork.

This is a screenshot from U, by BB&T, the responsive online banking web application that launched in 2015. Customers who were enrolled in the eBill service used this tool to manage their eBill accounts. I created the design for this view, collaborating with a UX designer and content strategist, and designing within the BB&T Style Guide.
